New ios 26 and macos were released a few days a ago. Seems like that even through there are lots of bug reports and usability problem, they still released it anyway. I don’t update software on day one(except feature/security update for applications) like when I used to be. Starting Apple intelligence and now new design language of ios/macos. I honestly just feel like this is more of hypes to stimulate users brain and beg investor.Especially, the idea stability and bug free software are not considered priority for them anymore.
Windows 11 is sadly happening and lots of devices are forced to throw away to trash bin. I know “Oh we need new tpm to validate that the standard of security is met at certain level.” I got it. As the chips produced later year, the more security feature are embedded. However, it is very hard to see the benefits of individual point of view. A lots of office worker do not need such a powerful machine(yes desktop gen 6 still enough for browser and office work) to do office work. The business desktop are designed to work a few years and lease it as they return the old devices and get new one. The old one goes to second hand market. However with windows 11, businesses are forced to renew the devices even though it works flawlessly. Does windows 11 offer substantial things that appeal lots of user? I dont see that. Looks like more bloats, privacy nightmare(constant ping to their tracking/analysis server), more bugs are introduced. We do have hopes. Yes linux.

Yes Linux desktop. GNU/Linux. I mean it. I like that people are accepting that there is alternative. It runs old hardware, less bugs, community based(some maybe toxic?) and corporate distro as well. It does not ask you to make online account unlike windows. Lots of desktop environments and window manager of your choice. Choice fatigues. Well, just try Mint, Fedora, or any of Ubuntu/debian family. Furthermore, it is OPEN SOURCE. You own it. DHH is hyping arch based distro with titling manager. I dont care distro but I would be so much to respect to anyone who jumps to linux desktop.
Wondering about why it does not get popularity. The problem is not really gatekeeper by those two corpos. Comes to down usability. End users are literary blinds. They just see OS to complete some task, which nothing wrong here. However, with windows 11 selling ads on task bar and pushing new upgrade to OS that is not polished and privacy nightmare of modern software, end user has to make a move. Yet, I find difficulty to explain why concept of open source is more imperative than use of terrible OS now. I was never able to persuade to someone to use linux as daily driver for now. Also, people in Japan tend to think that whatever decision they made by big corporation is right and justify and just use it as default without how much power that end user can achieve with consumer pc.
Props to recent of mac and windows 11 announcement to move more people on linux. I hope lots of people, institution can use linux one day. Better to spend money to Canonical or Red Hat although they may give L to user in the future. We do really need to understand the importance of OSS.
